Life isn’t all keywords and analytics. For years, mikeallan.com has been where I park my professional side — the SEO consulting, the audits, the Google tinkering that keeps me busy (and pays the bills). That part’s not going away. But there’s always been more going on in the background, and I needed a place to put it.
That’s what Off Duty is for.
Here’s where I step out of “SEO Mike” mode and just write as me. Some of what shows up here might be reflections from my healing journey, my recovery from alcoholism, navigating life as a CSA survivor, the parts of my story that shaped who I am today. Other times it’ll be side projects, experiments that don’t fit neatly into business boxes, or family stories (back when I used to joke about “Daddy Taxi Duty,” chauffeuring the kids everywhere).
And then there are the cars. The ones I drove, the ones I dreamed about, and now the ones I’m sketching into AI-powered fantasy builds. Trust me, they’ll show up here too.
Noticing a theme yet? There isn’t one. That’s the point. Off Duty is my catch-all corner. Sometimes serious, sometimes funny, sometimes both in the same paragraph. It’s where I can tell you about something that inspired me, or go full Peter Griffin and rant about whatever’s currently grinding my gears.
So this is the first post the digital equivalent of cracking open the garage, turning on the lights, and saying: welcome in.
This is life, Off Duty.
